NO SPLOST is a Radical, Far Left Agenda to Defund Glynn County & Brunswick, GA

NO SPLOST is a Radical, Far Left Agenda to Defund Glynn County & Brunswick, GA

If you remember the cry of "defund the police" during the 2020 protests then you can surely understand why "defund the community", in the sense of voting against the SPLOST, was an act of propaganda and lies to derail a fair, affordable, and equitable way to generate funding for the essential projects of Glynn County.

Unfortunately, even many conservatives fell for this trick, voting against the needs of the mostly Republican Board of Commissioners. Fueling the fire with keywords like "roundabout", these very few radical liberals not only turned citizens on their own, they also derailed essential infrastructure projects for the needy, minorities, and underprivileged that the far left claims to assist or represent.

The motive was to obstruct the new Republican Commissioners, even at the cost of the only Democrat and Black member in the group, Allen Booker, who made it very clear that he needed this funding to go forward in order to stop flooding and improve infrastructure in Brunswick.

The two new Commissioners are Walter Rafolski who beat Taylor Ritz for At-Large Post 2, and Cap Fendig who beat Julian “Puddy” Smith for District 2. Both Ritz and Smith worked on a public level to defund the SPLOST and to seemingly get revenge for losses to their former competitors, no matter what cost to the community.

We have a lot of revealing facts to share about this situation, for now just remember that "NO SPLOST" is one short step from "DEFUND THE POLICE" and there is a group of radicals willing to do whatever it takes to see that agenda through, at whatever cost to our community.

2021 NO SPLOST is an Obstructionist Agenda

2021 NO SPLOST is an Obstructionist Agenda

As one who votes Democrat, I believe in progressive efforts, not obstructionism. Controls need to be instituted in any sort of program, let alone in government, but I do not believe that the duty to manage or oversee a project should supersede its potential value and benefit. We need to vote YES on the SPLOST 2021 because

  • Coastal and flood waters are rising and Brunswick, GA, has serious, costly drainage issues.
  • Storms, nationally, seem to have increased in volume, power, and repetition. If we are hit head on by a hurricane or other storm it will be devastating, and not just in the flooding,,, the entire infrastructure could go down. I don't think we want to experience "Texas level" disaster anytime soon.
  • Most roads and sidewalks on the peninsula could use improvement and it's been said often.
  • Black leaders support the SPLOST and have said that their constituents need this help.

Flooding on Newcastle

We are in a pandemic, during a massive economic recession, and we have a very old infrastucture that needs updating. But the obstructionists say that the Glynn County Commissioners, even the newly elected ones, aren't capable of managing the SPLOST 2021. How would they know? I don't know, what I do know is that
  • Three of the foremost "no splosters" ran for office within the past few years and lost. Two ran for county commissioner, one for city.
  • All three are white, own homes, some with several properties.
  • Two ran as Democrats, the third is unknown.
  • At least one helped mobilize Black turnout for recent elections.
So why would they obstruct a one penny tax on a dollar that benefits everyone, let alone minorities, during such a vulnerable time? We can only guess that if they had won their election, they wouldn't be opposed. We can only guess that they somehow see it fit to ask black and brown voters for their vote but not lend a hand when it's time to return that favor.

The obstructionists cannot be allowed to carry out their objective of revenge for losing their elections and dissatisfaction with a Republican commission. It's not time for revenge, it's a time for healing and moving forward, and lending a hand to those in need.

VOTE YES on the 2021 SPLOST!

Confederate Monument in Brunswick, GA, Near Site of Ahmaud Arbery's Murder

BRUNSWICK, GEORGIA -- As Jacksonville Republican Mayor Lenny Curry announced that additional Confederate monuments would be removed in a list titled, "CIVIL WAR RELATED MONUMENTS AND MARKERS ON CITY PROPERTY", a southeastern Georgia town that is home to a Confederate memorial remained stunningly silent. Brunswick, Georgia is over 70 miles north of the Florida metropole but has made national headlines as being mere miles from the site of the murderous vigilante hunt of black runner Ahmaud Arbery in the Satilla Shores, Glynn County subdivision.

The towering statue of a Confederate soldier is housed and groomed on a manicured city property known as Hanover Square, on the southern peninsula of Brunswick known as "So-Glo", which stands for "south of Gloucester", a dividing east / west street  on its northern border. "So-Glo" prides itself on its Victorian-era homes, live oaks, revitalized business areas, and a seemingly left-leaning mindset. But when it comes to the removal of an admittedly skillfully-crafted statue that heads a beautiful park and grounds, miles from where a black resident was murdered for the apparent crime of "running", even if the Mayor is a black man named Cornell Harvey and the district Commissioner is Allen Booker, also black, it's not a topic.

Either "So-Glo" is above and beyond the rest of where America is at now, or they're sadly mistaken. The situation -- that a black man was basically lynched in February, 2020, a few miles from the site of this memorial, yet no debate or dialogue exists -- is beyond comprehension, at least for anyone without a political or racial bias

CNN's Martin Savidge, as well as several journalists from other news outlets, reported live from the Glynn County Courthouse in recent weeks, which is seated in Brunswick, and also only blocks from this monument, which happens to be very hard to miss. Civil protests and demonstrations have taken place several times in the city since the national unveiling of heinous acts which resulted in Mr. Arbery's death, captured and released nationwide on video, yet nobody has addressed this stone sculpture which is a tribute to those who died fighting for a cause which oppressed African Americans for centuries and quite possibly led to his death in the 21st century.

What will happen remains to be seen by the public and the first who move on it, and those who do for political reasons should be absolutely condemned, for life.

Glynn County Injustice

We have suffered three dead in the past 24 hours of Glynn County due to violence. Our hearts go out to neighboring McIntosh County where two of the deaths took place. Violence seems to know no borders. The origin of these deaths, the core mishap, is Glynn County, where a judge, however well-intentioned, gave a repeat domestic offender a "break", probably because he was a police Lieutenant, even after the perp's several offenses towards his spouse.

Domestic violence and the general attitude towards women in Glynn County needs to be put to an immediate stop. There is no validation or vindication thereof, violence towards anyone, let alone family members, is a completely unacceptable means of action. There's no excuse for what has happened here.

Katie and John's friends need to unite to change this tide, they were victims of an unbridled judicial system of favoritism lending benefit of the doubt to a person who had, several times, proven that they could not and would not control themselves.

Glynn County SPLOST 2016

The Glynn County SPLOST 2016 can generate over $71 million dollars for needed projects using an only 1% sales tax, largely funded by our 2.5 million annual visitors and tourists -- but only if you VOTE YES! If not, the county will probably increase our property taxes to pay for it or not do the projects at all, which will degrade the quality of the Golden Isles! Please take a look at the budget linked here!
